Engineering Reports

In the summer of 2002, the Community Task Force for Promontory Point in conjunction with the Hyde Park Historical Society commissioned engineer Cyril Galvin to prepare a report on the feasibility of preserving the limestone revetments at The Point. This study was funded by contributions from the concerned citizens and business of Hyde Park, matched with a generous grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. List of donors here.

In the June 26, 2002 Hyde Park Herald photo shown here, engineer Cyril Galvin (left) measures the Point's limestone to collect data for the report, assisted by Bruce Johnstone (center) and Matt Frank (in the water).

Here is that report, in three parts. Note that these PDF files do not contain the photos and drawings; some are available separately as noted.

  1. October 1, 2002: "Preservation Plans for Limestone Revetment" (PDF)

  2. December 7, 2002: "Final Report: Evaluations and Recommendations" (PDF)

  3. November 20, 2002: Report of Conference Call. This conference call discussed many of the items in the report and in the City's responses. (PDF)
