Who are we?

We are like you and thousands of other community members who love the point. Like you we swim, walk our dogs, picnic, read, meet old friends and make new ones. The Point might be the most beautiful spot in Chicago, and we think it's an important part of the soul of Hyde Park-Kenwood.

And now we're worried. As you know, the Park District plans to replace the natural limestone seawall with a steel and concrete revetment. We think this will forever destroy the aesthetic and recreational value of the Point. We are working to ensure that the Park District preserves the essence of the point by using a limestone-based design for the repair and restoration of the sea-wall.

Save The Point is an activist network with a primary goal of education and mobilizing the community. We do this through leafleting and petitioning and with our website and e-mail notices. We are working to win concessions from the Park District and improve the plan in any way possible. Our rallying cry is -- stop the concrete, restore the limestone.

Please help us in any way that you can.
